It’s going to be a couple of great weekends in Lismore over the next fortnight.
I am looking forward to going to the annual Lismore Lantern Parade on Saturday night.
This is an iconic event that is even more important this year following the recent flood.
I would like to thank Jyllie Jackson and her team of hard-working volunteers for organising this year’s parade in very difficult circumstances.

The celebrations continue on Sunday with Piazza in the Park on Sunday.
This is a great family day out celebrating local Italian heritage and the connection between Lismore and the northern Italian city of Conegliano.
As usual, there will be great entertainment from choirs to accordions, fabulous Italian cuisine, food stalls, Italian themed merchandise, a display of Italian cars and bikes, competitions and Italian conversation so people can actively embrace the culture, food, and art of Italy in Spinks Park.

The following weekend is Lismore’s annual Stocktake Sale.
I encourage everyone to come into the CBD and shop local to support our flood-affected small businesses.
It’s up to us to all of us ‘Restart the Heart’.

The Government recently passed a bill to ensure people who take out Australian citizenship share our values such as respect for women and freedom of religion.
This is important to make sure we have a cohesive society based on Australian values of respect for each other.
