Yamba Welding and Engineering has won a Federal Government contract worth more than $5 million. It is to build eight vessels to carry out border control operations around the country.
This is great news for Yamba Welding, our local community and importantly people looking for work. Winning this contract will allow them to put on more apprentices and staff.
CCTV cameras are to be rolled out around both Grafton and South Grafton CBD areas after I delivered $200,000 of funding last week.
We have just given the local Chamber of Commerce $200,000 to implement. If you are a business owner and want to be part of the roll out, get in touch with the Chamber.
I recently announced more than $3 million annual ongoing funding for new 50 new Residential Aged Care places in Yamba.
These additional beds will create up to 60 new permanent jobs when the new facility opens and also new local construction jobs during the building phase.
The new jobs will include carers, cooks, administration and ground staff.
Volunteer groups like the Yamba Surf Club do a great job for our community.
I was happy to recently give the Surf Club almost $10,000 to install Solar panels.
This will allow the club to reduce their power bills and spend their money on lifesaving equipment.
