The $90 million expansion of the Lismore Square knocked back by Lismore City Council is a woeful decision.
To maintain our status as a regional capital, Lismore needs continual development.
This is not an either or decision. We need a healthy CBD and shopping centre.
Many people drive from our region, and indeed, drive through Lismore to the Gold Coast to visit a large shopping centre.
The expansion was going to improve the link between the CBD and the Square.
This is going to cost us jobs and hold back Lismore.
Woeful Lismore City Council, woeful.

Karen represented me at the re-opening of St Vinnies in Magellan Street when I was in Canberra last week.
Vinnies have around 2000 volunteers across the Diocese.
I thanked Vinnies and our other op-shops in Parliament last week for the great work they did to help our community during the flood.
I would like to particularly thank Vinnies’ volunteer shop manager Marie Ganter, who along with a team of about 30 volunteers and staff, worked tirelessly to get the shop re-opened.

I hope everyone enjoys today’s Lismore Cup.
Not only is this a big event for Lismore’s but it is also great for local shops.
I would like to thank the Turf Club for organising this great annual event.
