It was great to announce funding of more than $115,000 to Namatjira Haven to expand its existing services and offer new mental health services.
In partnership with Rekindling the Spirit, the funding will be used to train local staff in Aboriginal Mental Health First Aid, as well as provide more beds at Namatjira’s Drug and Alcohol Healing Centre.
This is terrific news for our local indigenous community.
Not only is our community a great place to live, it’s also a great place to visit.
Last year more than 331,000 international visitors travelled to the North Coast and spent $198 million.
This is good news for our community, local tourism jobs and local businesses.
Visitor nights also increased, with international tourists staying 359,000 nights, or an average of 11 nights per visitor – an increase of almost 20 per cent from three years ago.
I would like to thank the volunteer members of the SES and other emergency workers who kept our community safe during the recent rain.
My Facebook Page was hacked recently.
You may have previously liked or followed my page, but because of the hacking – now don’t. The hackers deleted all my old posts and over 3000 of my contacts.
It is disappointing as the Page showcases the many talents and remarkable people in our region. The hackers removed all of these images and videos.
