It was great to attend the 70th anniversary dinner for the East Lismore Hockey Club on the weekend.
They are a wonderful club with much reason to celebrate.
I would like to acknowledge the night’s organisers Tracey Drew, Judy Mallett, Janelle Pitman and Jim Savin. Thanks also to the club’s executive: president Chris Clark, secretary Kerrianne McGufficke and treasurer Alison Franey.
Congratulations to all the wonderful volunteers at the Caroona Op Shop in Keen Street that re-opened this week after it was devastated by the flood.
Following the flood, the volunteers had to throw out all the stock on the first floor. But thanks to the generosity of our community, the stock was quickly restored and the shop is now open to the public once again.
The money raised by the store directly supports the local Uniting Aged Care facilities in Goonellabah.
I am looking forward to going to Frank Vanz’s annual Christmas in July fundraiser.
It is always a good night and money raised this year will go to the Oncology Unit for Cancer at St Vincent’s Hospital.
Many thanks to Frank and Lilibeth Vanz from Lismore Tyre Company for organising this event.
