It was great to announce a $1.5 million upgrade of the Far North Coast’s Regional Hockey Centre in Goonellabah.
This is wonderful news for our community. It will transform the existing aged complex into a new state-of-the-art facility for players and spectators.
Works will include the installation of lighting, spectator seating, player spaces, official and technical officers’ spaces, toilets and covered player preparation areas.
With the upgrade of Oakes Oval started, the baseball upgrade on the way, Lismore is certainly the home of regional sport.
The Federal Government is contributing more than $650,000 to the latest project.

Work on the duplication of the Pacific Highway is certainly speeding up.
I recently announced contracts to build 118 out of the 166 bridges being built as part of the Woolgoolga to Ballina section of the Pacific Highway upgrade.
The benefit from these new contracts will also flow through to supporting industries such as accommodation and hospitality.
Almost 2,300 people are now working on Pacific Highway projects, providing a substantial boost to our local North Coast economy.
