Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan said more than 1200 local volunteers will benefit from grants totalling $178,236 for 47 community organisations across the Northern Rivers.
“I would like to thank all our volunteers who freely give their time,” he said.
“Volunteers play a critical role in shaping our community and making us stronger and more resilient. These grants will help the volunteers who help us.
Mr Hogan put out a call to all our volunteer organisations to apply for the grant last November.
In all, Mr Hogan today announced grants totalling more than $250,000 for 69 volunteer organisations across the entire electorate of Page benefiting almost 2000 volunteers.
Volunteer groups in the Northern Rivers which have received a grant include: Casino and District Family History Group ($4530), Coraki Community Radio ($4500), Eden Creek/Fairymount Pre-School ($1991), Bonalbo and District Community Hall ($1600), Mary of Angelus ($5000), Gungyah Ngallingnee Aboriginal Corp ($4076), Kyogle and District Historical Society ($4000), Serpentine Gallery ($3940), Quota Club of Alstonville/Wollongbar ($1787), U3A Northern Rivers ($4500), Wildlife Rescue ($5000), Evans Head-Casino Surf Lifesaving ($1987), Pacific Coast Railway Society ($5000), Lismore Theatre Company ($2500), Friends of the Koala ($4850), Mid-Richmond Neighbourhood Centre ($5000), Rotary Club of Lismore West ($5000), Casino Mens’ Shed ($1688), Wadeville Reserve Trust ($2350), Woodburn-Evans Head & District Orchid Society ($1000), Rotary Club of Casino ($4000), Cancer Council, Evans River K-12 P&C ($2605), Uniting Care Casino Transport Team ($5000), Tabulam P&C ($1700), Keeping Our Freedom ($5000), Richmond Valley Woodcrafters Club ($1000), Burabi Aboriginal Corp ($4943), Collins Creek Public Hall Reserve Trust ($1228), Richmond Valley Landcare ($4600), Far North Coast Baseball Umpires Association ($5000), Far North Coast Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Assoc ($5000), Evans Head Bombers ($3100), Far North Coast Baseball Scorers Assoc ($5000), Lismore Toy Library ($3346), Village Hall Players ($1319) and Nimbin Central School P&C ($5000).
