Goonellabah Community Centre is to receive an upgrade and Richmond Tweed Regional Library is to relocate to the same site, Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan said.
“This is great news for the Goonellabah community who use the Centre for many different activities,” he said.
“The Centre was in need of a facelift and with the relocation of the Richmond Tweed Regional Library I was able to obtain a grant of $300,000 to make it happen.
“The grant was through the Community Development Grants Programme and will ensure the Centre remains a relevant hub of activity for the community in years to come.”
Lismore Mayor, Isaac Smith said that community centres are the lifeblood of our communities.
“I am thrilled that the Federal Government has announced funding to improve the Goonellabah Community Centre,” he said.
“The Centre provides a range of essential services from being the home of our Library to Meals on Wheels.
“Our community will benefit immensely from a refurbished centre that is modern, comfortable and provides easy access to these essential and important services.”
