Federal member for Page Kevin Hogan said local governments in the Northern Rivers and Clarence Valley will benefit from delivery of the latest tranche of funding under the Australian Government’s four-year $9.3 billion Financial Assistance Grants programme.
He said $7,199,237 is being provided to local governments in the Northern Rivers and Clarence Valley under the latest funding.
“The Australian Government recognises the important contribution councils, as the level of government closest to Australians, make to our national economy and the leadership they provide at a local community level,” Mr Hogan said.
“Local governments play a pivotal role in bringing communities together and producing local solutions to local problems.
“Importantly, this funding is untied and supports local governments to deliver on local priorities with the services, facilities and infrastructure communities need most.
“The Australian Government is providing a total of $2.3 billion to local governments across Australia under the 2014-15 Financial Assistance Grants programme.”
Mr Hogan said the fourth quarterly grants payment will deliver:
- $929,439 to Ballina Shire Council
- $2,563,851 to Clarence Valley Council
- $974,138 to Kyogle Shire Council
- $1,561,076 to Lismore City Council
- $1,170,742 to Richmond Valley Council
