Mental Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan said a Mental Health Workshop to be held in Lismore next month will help identify the best way to roll-out services across the Northern Rives.
“This workshop will identify what we can do together in the Northern Rivers to provide localised Mental Health Services based on evidence from the well-respected Black Dog Institute about what works to prevent suicide in local communities,” he said.
The workshop is being run by the North Coast Primary Health Network, which has been given the responsibility to help our community design local solutions to improve mental health across the Northern Rivers.
“We have many good Mental Health Services in the Northern Rivers, but more needs to be done,” Mr Hogan said.
“With the Federal Government rolling-out more Mental Health services, workshops like the one next month helps to ensure that the extra resources are allocated in the right places.”
Mr Hogan said community members, carers, doctors, mental health professionals, community-managed organisations, hospitals, emergency services and other interested people are all invited to attend the workshop at the Lismore City Hall between 5pm and 7.30pm on December 8.
