Changes to 457 Visas are good news for locals looking for work.
These changes are all about making sure there are Australian jobs for Australians.
Foreign workers add value to our nation and our local community, but that can’t come at the expense of Australian workers.
The changes will better target genuine skills shortages in regions such as ours.
Karen and I attended the Anzac Dawn service in Lismore to pay our respects to the men and women who have served our nation in times of war.
As always, it was a moving event and very well attended.
Lest we forget.
There was a large turnout of local businesses at Lismore Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s meeting last week to discuss options for recovery funding and insurance.
If you are a business owner, I encourage you to apply for a $15,000 grant as soon as possible.
These are available at www.raa.nsw.gov.au/assistance/natural-disaster-relief/grants-information-and-application-forms/north-coast-floods-small-business or by calling 1800 678 593.
Grants are also available for not-for-profit organisations.
These grants will help in the rebuild of our community.
