A new training hub for young school leavers will be established in Grafton, Federal Member for Page, Kevin Hogan announced today.
“Unemployment is close to historic lows in NSW. Recently unemployment was at 3.9% in NSW. The youth unemployment rate is also at its lowest rate in 7 years. However we still have more work to do,” Mr Hogan said.
“Grafton is one of ten locations in Australia to be selected to host an Industry Training Hub, which will strengthen partnerships between local schools, employers and industries, and ensure that vocational education programs are tailored to meet local workforce needs and skills demands.
“Young people, aged 15-24, in Grafton will also be eligible to apply for a scholarship to undertake an eligible VET Approved Program of Study at the Certificate III to Advanced Diploma level. Scholarships, valued at up to $17,500 each, will be made available in the 10 locations.
“The more opportunities we can provide young people in Grafton to develop skills relevant to the needs of local industry, the more likely they will be to secure ongoing employment”
