St Mary’s Primary School recently trialled a new program to improve student’s focus and attention in the classroom. This involved students wearing headphones to eliminate outside noise and distractions.
Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan today announced $5,000 to roll this program out school-wide.
“This is a very innovative program that had very successful results during the trial last year,” Mr Hogan said.
“Students wore headphones, and the teacher had a wireless microphone that is linked to the headphones.”
“Lessons were then delivered through the headphones to eliminate outside noise and
distractions.”
“This funding will allow the school to purchase a set for every student from Year 2 to Year 6.”
St Mary’s Primary School Principal John O’Brien welcomed the funding and is looking forward to seeing continued results.
“This is an extremely exciting program for the school,” Mr O’Brien said.
“Our students are already benefitting with their learning and we are looking forward to seeing this spread across the school.”
