Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan has announced $3.5 million to build 22 affordable two-bedroom units for seniors in South Grafton, if the Government is re-elected.
“This project includes constructing 22 seniors-specific two bedroom units with lock up garage, a community building for communal activities, and landscaped grounds and gardens to provide visual amenity for residents,” Mr Hogan said.
“Clarence Village will also contribute $3 million, making this a $6.5 million investment in the community.”
“Once completed, the units will be rented to seniors at affordable rates as part of Clarence Villages independent living division.”
“During construction, this project will create 58 local jobs. This is fantastic for our community.”
Clarence Village CEO Duncan McKimm welcomed the announcement and said it wouldn’t be possible without Government support.
“This funding unlocks a huge social benefit by allowing Clarence Village to offer more of the homes we construct for affordable housing,” Mr McKimm said.
“This is a game-changer for our community and will improve the lives of dozens of seniors by giving them an affordable and safe place to live.”
“On behalf of the seniors in our community, particularly the dozens on our waiting list trying to find affordable housing, I’d like to thank Kevin Hogan MP for making this commitment.”
