Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan today announced a grant of almost $9000 to the Woolgoolga Regional Community Garden Association.
The grant will allow the association to purchase major infrastructure items for the garden, including a shipping container that will double as a storage area and a meeting place, as well as water tanks and a pump plus garden supplies.
“This is great news for the community,” Mr Hogan said.
“I would like to congratulate all the club members. They are all volunteers who are working with local community groups, schools, our indigenous and Sikh populations, and the unemployed to further develop the gardens as a community asset.
“The community support for the project is clearly shown by the generous donations from local businesses, many of whom are here today.”
Projects under the Stronger Communities Program, like this one, are selected by a community consultation committee that assist with identifying potential projects.
