Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan today announced a $15,000 grant to Wollongbar Alstonville Rugby Club.
The grant will go towards to the installation of new lights on the second training field at the new Wollongbar Multi-Sports facility.
“This is great news for the community,” Mr Hogan said.
“These new lights are vital for the development and continued growth of the popular Junior Club. With the new lighting, the field can also be used for training by the Seniors and other sporting clubs.
“It will also provide a venue for night markets and special community activities, such as a Christmas Carnival.
Projects under the Stronger Communities Program, like this one, are selected by a community consultation committee that assist with identifying potential projects.
The grant comes after Mr Hogan announced a $500,000 commitment to build the new Multi-Sports Facility at Wollongbar during the Federal election.
The new facility will boast a covered spectator area, a function area for 200 people, a fully serviced kitchen to allow for self-catering, meeting rooms, storage area for individual clubs, bar and canteen facility, and outside catering area.
