Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan was joined by the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Darren Chester today to announce a grant of more than $18,000 for the Alstonville RSL sub-branch.
“This funding of more than $18,000 will allow the Alstonville RSL Sub-Branch to upgrade the Elizabeth Ann Brown War Memorial Park, which is used for various commemorative events, including Anzac Day, Vietnam Veterans’ Day and Remembrance Day,” Mr Hogan said.
“The grant will go a long way to improve the condition of the war memorial and will enhance the memorial precinct as a place to sit, relax, reflect and remember the service and sacrifice of our service men and women.”
Minister Chester said: “As Remembrance Day this year marks the centenary of the First World War Armistice, this grant will ensure members of the Alstonville community will have an ideal location to stop for a minute’s silence and remember all those who have served our nation over a Century of Service.”
The grant was made under the Federal Government’s Armistice Centenary Grants Program
