Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan today officially opened the new Headspace facility in Grafton with a big thank you to the community.
“It was two years ago, to the day, we had a meeting here in the Community Centre, about the terrible tragedies of youth suicide occurring in the Valley.”
“At that community meeting began the quest to find where the gaps in mental health services were. Over the past 12-18 months there has been a significant increase in the mental health services provided. Headspace is part of that delivery.”
“More services are still coming and will roll out over coming months, but Headspace is a signature new service.”
“The ‘Our Healthy Clarence’ plan is the blue print and I thank all the participants in that group.”
“To our youth, this opening today symbolises that we care for you. It also will help to continue to break down the stigma of mental health. It is ok to say you are not ok.”
“I thank the Health Minister Greg Hunt. When I demanded we get a Headspace in Grafton he visited our community immediately and helped me fast track this facility.”
