Community Halls are important spaces in our community. Evans Head Scout Hall and Evans Head Recreation Hall needed to make various improvements to their facilities to make them safer and better for the groups that use the halls.
Last year, Richmond Valley Council received a $1 million Federal Government grant to assist with drought relief. Council used this to support important community infrastructure, including upgrades of community halls.
Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan recently dropped into Evans Head Scout Hall and Evans Head Recreation Hall to view the completed upgrades.
“Evans Head Scout Hall received $2,200 to upgrade the power infrastructure and Evans Head Recreation Hall received $10,500 to paint the hall interior and install security screens,” Mr Hogan said.
“This funding was designed to support councils deliver infrastructure projects to support jobs and help communities bounce back from the recent drought.”
“Our communities have faced the combined effects of drought, bushfires and COVID-19, which is why we are backing projects that create employment and business opportunities.”
