Northern Co-operative Meat Company Ltd (NCMC) has received a significant boost to upgrade production facilities.
Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan and Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack today visited NCMC following the final approval of funding.
“I secured $1.55 million in Federal Government funding to put towards the construction of a state-of-the-art retail ready processing room,” Mr Hogan said.
“Casino Meatworks employs 1,000 people and this new facility will secure their jobs and create further local jobs.”
“This will provide a dedicated facility that will improve efficiency and provide for growth”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said by backing Casino Meatworks, the Federal Government was backing the local community.
“This is a project supporting jobs and the local economy at a time it’s needed most,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.
“Kevin Hogan has advocated for this funding and it is great to see him delivering on this commitment.”
NCMC Chief Executive Officer Simon Stahl said these current investments by the Government in regional towns are critical to keep manufacturing in regional areas.
“The investments will allow us to free up skilled workers to train new employees,” Mr Stahl said.
“One of the biggest threats to the manufacturing industry is lack of skills and adequate labour”
“This project will enable us to improve these areas.”
The Federal Government is contributing $1.55 million, and NCMC will contribute $4.78 million towards this project.
