Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan said he shares the concerns of Mullaway residents about the close vicinity of the proposed Optus mobile base station to the local Primary School.
“I have personally made a submission to Optus asking it to find a solution in line with community concerns,” he said.
Optus has agreed to report back to Mr Hogan following its community consultation process. Mr Hogan will also discuss the outcome of today’s community meeting with Optus at a follow-up community meeting he is holding on Friday.
“My concerns are based on the grounds that this is a Community Sensitive Location due to its proximity to the Mullaway Primary School,” Mr Hogan said.
“I have been personally contacted by many members of the local community who are strongly opposed to this location.
“I ask that Optus and/or Metasite take into account the objections of the local community and work with them to find a solution that meets the needs of both Optus and the local community.
“I encourage all community members concerned about the proposal to also provide feedback.”
