Westlawn Public School teaches primary school students important cooking skills. Currently the school has limited space for students to take part in these programs.
Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan today announced Westlawn has received $20,000 for a new ‘Kitchen Kart’.
Mr Hogan said the new portable teaching kitchen will allow more students to take part in these interactive classes.
“The ‘Kitchen Kart’ is a compact mobile teaching kitchen that comes with an oven, stovetop and a kitchen sink,” Mr Hogan said.
Westlawn Public School Principal Sandra Armstrong said the new equipment would allow staff to teach anywhere in the school with ease.
“Teaching children the basics of cooking is a great way to broaden their knowledge of nutritious food and nutrition in a practical way,” Mrs Armstrong said.
