Volunteers are central to so many local organisations and provide important services in our community. It is important to support the efforts of these organisations and the individuals that allow them to function.
Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan today announced funding for two groups to allow them to continue and grow their operations.
“I am very pleased to support THE UNIT and Languages Other than English Together with Us (LOETUS),” Mr Hogan said.
“Both organisations support many people in our community and are very deserving of this funding.”
“LOETUS Grafton supports people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.”
“$5,000 will be provided to them to undertake training for translators and purchase new translator devices.”
“It is important that they are able to communicate effectively with people from non-English-speaking backgrounds. This will allow them to better serve our community.”
“THE UNIT is a technology club for high functioning kids on the Autism Spectrum.”
“$5,000 will be provided to them to purchase new laptops for their programs.”
“THE UNIT allows kids to explore their technology interests at their own pace in a safe environment, with support from professional mentors. This will allow them to continue serving our community.”
