Over the past few weeks the office of Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan, has had numerous calls alerting us to a scam offering people free IPads, Laptops and other devices in return for signing up to online courses.
People outside Centrelink, in local caravan parks and on Facebook are being approached with this offer and being convinced by the official looking paperwork put in front of them.
“The Federal Government never approaches people in the street, on the phone or online to encourage them to sign up to government programs,” Mr Hogan said.
“I urge all residents and anyone who comes into contact with this scam to not handover any personal details and make sure you report it to the Police,” he said.
