Unemployment in towns and villages across the Northern Rivers continues to fall since the Government was elected in September 2013, the Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan said.
“This is wonderful news for our community and those looking for work,” he said.
“Since 2013, the unemployment rate has almost halved in Evans Head from 8% to 4.5%, in Casino 9.9% to 7.9% and Kyogle 8.6% to 7%.
“In Lismore, the rate has fallen from 10.4% to 8.2%, Lismore region 6.8% to 4.7% and Goonellabah 6.4% to 4.8%”
The figures are from the Department of Jobs and Small Business’ most recent report on Small Area Labour Markets for the September 2018 quarter
“The strong local jobs growth in our towns and villages are part of a national picture which has seen record growth with more than 400,000 jobs created last year,” Mr Hogan said.
