More jobs were created as unemployment in towns and villages across the Northern Rivers continued to fall over the last 12 months, the Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan said.
“This is wonderful news for our community and those looking for work,” he said.
“Since 2013, the unemployment rate has more than halved in Evans Head from 8% to 3.7%, in Casino 9.9% to 5.6% and Kyogle 8.6% to 5.8%.
“In Lismore, the rate has fallen from 10.4% to 6.6%, Lismore region 6.8% to 3.8% and Goonellabah 6.4% to 4%”
The figures are from the Department of Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business’ most recent report on Small Area Labour Markets for the March 2019 quarter
“The strong local jobs growth in our towns and villages are part of a national picture which has seen record growth with more than 1.3 million jobs created since 2013,” Mr Hogan said.
