Jagun Aged and Community Care needed a new disability ramp to allow access to their outdoor area. The Federal Government provided a $10,000 grant to assist with this project.
Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan said the centre does a fantastic job bringing elderly community members together.
“It was great to see the new ramp open for use today,” Mr Hogan said.
“They couldn’t get people with disabilities, or those using walkers, into the centre so they came to me asking for assistance.”
“I organised funding so that people with a disability weren’t prevented from socialising.”
“This will allow more people to attend the Centre’s Day Program and make new friends, whether they are attending the arts and crafts courses or low-level fitness classes.
“It will also allow the Centre to attract more clients. It’s all about increasing the numbers to bring people together.”
“They have about 15 people coming into the centre a day. It provides them with a better quality of life and social interaction.”
