Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan today announced a $15,000 grant to the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (NSW) Northern Rivers Branch Inc.
The grant is for the completion of safety upgrades to the General Pistol Range at the Casino Shooting Complex. Work will include construction of a timber sleeper wall, construction of two 50m side walls for the pistol range, extensive landscaping for safety purposes and preparation for future work on the construction of a second pistol range.
“The Casino Shooting Complex provides a safe and friendly atmosphere where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together to share a common interest and build lifetime friendships,” Mr Hogan said.
“When this upgrade is complete the Casino Shooting Complex will be able to provide first class facilities for the local, state and national competitions that bring so many visitors to our region.”
The Northern Rivers SSAA Branch has a membership of around 950, and over 4000 range visits per year.
“Projects under the Stronger Communities Program, like this one, are selected by a community consultation committee that assist with identifying potential projects,” Mr Hogan said.
