Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan today announced a $5,285 grant to Big River Sailing Club.
The grant will be used to purchase a new club rescue boat and outboard motor. “This is great news for the Big River Sailing Club, as they can replace their old vessel and provide the reliability expected of a safety boat,” he said.
“Big River Sailing club provides great facilities for the community to enjoy the sport of sailing, learn new skills and make lifelong friendships,” Mr Hogan said.
“This purchase is very important for the club, as a new safety vessel allows them to host major sailing events within our region.”
The Big River Sailing club currently runs a popular Learn to Sail program for children and adults, and is committed to supporting sailing within members of the disabled community.
“Projects under the Stronger Communities Program, like this one, are selected by a community consultation committee that assist with identifying potential projects,” Mr Hogan said.
