Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan today announced a grant to the Grafton Gem Club to purchase new machinery.
“The club has been located at the Grafton Showgrounds for well over ten years and is a popular tourist destination throughout the year, particularly during the Grafton Show, Jacaranda Festival and the Grafton Scouts Gem/Craft festival,” Mr Hogan said.
“This $5000 grant will be used to replace aging lapidary machinery with modern Cabochon machinery, making the learning experience easier and safer for young and old members alike.
“With about 65 members already, the club is confident the new equipment will encourage a larger and broader membership with a higher participation rate, bringing together people with a more diverse background.
“Projects under the Stronger Communities Program, like this one, are selected by a community consultation committee that assist with identifying potential projects.”
