Member for Page Kevin Hogan today encouraged young carers up to 25 years of age to apply for funding under the 2016 Young Carer Bursary Programme.
“The Government is delivering 333 bursaries for young carers, worth $3,000 each, to help them continue their education,” he said.
“We recognise that young carers play a vital role in the lives of many people in the Clarence Valley and Northern Rivers, and often have to juggle part-time work and caring responsibilities with their study.
“I urge young carers in the Northern Rivers and Clarence Valley to apply for this support”.
The Coalition is providing $3.5 million over three years to the Young Carer Bursary Programme, which is administered by Carers Australia.
It was an election commitment of the Coalition Government, which was delivered in the 2014-15 Budget.
Applications for the 2016 bursaries close on 28 September, please visit http://bursaries.youngcarers.net.au to apply or for more information.
