Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan said Lismore Showground is set to receive an almost $30,000 boost following the announcement of its successful project under the Building Better Regions Fund – Community Investment stream.
“This is a fantastic outcome for our community and the Showground,” he said.
“The Showground Committee came to me because they needed assistance in developing a Strategic Management Plan for our Showground to ensure it retains its important role in our community.
“We all know the importance of the Showground to our community and how it attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year.
“I am happy to announce today a grant of almost $30,000 to help them develop the Plan to make sure our historic showground meets the needs of our community for many years to come.
“This grant is under the Government’s Community Investment stream of the Building Better Regions Fund. This stream supports community activities from expanded local events and strategic planning to improving leadership and capability.
“This is another great outcome delivered for our community. We have a plan to deliver a stronger economy and more jobs and we are focused on getting it done.”
John Gibson, President of the Show Committee, thanked Mr Hogan for his support.
“What this grant does is show that the Showground is an essential place in the Northern Rivers with enormous infrastructure,” he said.
“A lot of that needs replacing and repair. This grant will enable the Showground to move forward reflecting its 133 year history and more importantly recognising that humans have met here for thousands of years.”
