Suzanne Hopf from East Lismore has been awarded the opportunity to study and do research overseas during 2015 under the Australian Government’s Endeavour Scholarships and Fellowships programme.
Member for Page Kevin Hogan said Ms Hopf could be very proud of her success in this competitive process. She will travel to Fiji as part of her post-graduate research.
“Across Australia these postgraduate scholarships and fellowships will allow 154 top-performing Australians to further their skills and knowledge and develop Australia’s research links overseas while building their international experience,” he said.
The programme will also support 528 highly competitive recipients from overseas to study in Australia.
“The Government understands the importance of creating opportunities for the people of communities like ours to advance their education, research and professional development, both at home and overseas,” Mr Hogan said.
“I’m proud to be part of a Government which is investing an extra $100 million over five years in the New Colombo Plan which will increase Australians’ knowledge of the Asia–Pacific region and strengthen ties through study and internships undertaken by undergraduate students.”
The New Colombo Plan commences fully in 2015, after a pilot phase in 2014.
Applications for the 2016 Endeavour Scholarship and Fellowship round will open in April 2015.
