A boost for Lismore’s local infrastructure
Work is starting on 49 local roads across the Lismore LGA, repairing damage from the 2022 floods with the commencement of the Pavement Restoration Program.
Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan said today’s commencement event marks an important milestone in rebuilding critical local infrastructure.
“This program is about getting our communities back on track after the devastation of the 2022 floods. This investment will restore key local infrastructure and provide safe and reliable roads for families, businesses, and emergency services.”
The program is jointly funded by the Australian and NSW Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements that will roll out from early 2026.
Rather than full reconstruction, the program will focus on pavement stabilisation techniques to repair and strengthen existing roads more efficiently.
“These methods mean we can fix more roads quicker, and in a more cost-effective way,” Mr Hogan said. “I have been advocating strongly for investment like this because our region deserves infrastructure that is safe, reliable, and built for the long term,” he said.
“This is about delivering practical outcomes for our communities.”
