Finally, our community can begin the process of house buy backs, land swaps and house raising. This is good news.
It’s an $800 million package I have been lobbying for months. The package will:
The voluntary buyback scheme will apply to those residents whose homes are deemed most at-risk in future events. House will be valued as it was pre-flood.To provide financial assistance of up to $100,000 for house raising or up to $50,000 for retrofitting.$100 million to acquire land and open up new flood-safe locations for future development.Information sessions will also be held over the next few weeks. I will keep our community up to date as soon as this is released.
6000 properties are eligible to apply for this program. I encourage as many people as possible to attend either the information sessions, information stands or pop-ups.
Spots are filling fast, however new locations, dates and times (including early evening sessions) will be added.
