Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan today launched a petition to pressure the Albanese Government to fully fund the Resilient Homes Program as promised.
Mr Hogan said the petition was being launched ahead of Saturday’s planned rally in Woodburn to give people attending the opportunity to have their say and help add their voices to the campaign.
“People feel hurt and betrayed since the latest flood maps were released by the NRRC a couple of weeks ago and the phone calls started going out telling people they’ve missed out on help.
“They need answers and they deserve answers. This was Australia’s worst natural disaster, with the communities in the lower Richmond Valley among the hardest hit and feeling left out altogether.
“Prime Minister Anthony Albanese promised no-one would be left behind and the Federal Government would stand by communities and fully support all necessary funding requirements. The Resilient Homes Program needs increased funding immediately.
“The petition will give me the opportunity to demonstrate the level of public support as I take up the fight in Federal Parliament.
“The Prime Minister risks causing years of ongoing pain and hardship unless he keeps his word and delivers the full help needed to ensure people can get back on their feet,”
Mr Hogan said.
