COMMUNITY PETITION TO KEEP BELLS BAY CAMPGROUND OPEN
Bells Bay Camping Area at Toonumbar Dam is an important spot for locals and visitors. Nestled on the edge of Toonumbar Dam, just 33km from Kyogle, it’s more than just a bush campground — it’s a community hub built on generations of volunteer work, local pride, and a shared love of the great outdoors.
The sudden and unexplained closure of Bells Bay by WaterNSW – a state-owned agency run by the Labor Government – has left the community exceptionally disappointed. No consultation. No warning. No explanation. Local fishing clubs, campers, and families were blindsided.
This closure isn’t just bureaucratic overreach — it’s a kick in the guts to a community that has poured its own time, money, and heart into caring for this place.
We’re calling on the Labor Government and WaterNSW to guarantee continued public access to Bells Bay. Sign the petition below to help keep this important space open.
