FEDERAL member for Page Kevin Hogan will welcome 13 undergraduate medical students from the University of Sydney to the region on Monday morning as they begin their 12-month placement with the Northern NSW Health District.
“What better place for these students to complete their placements?,” Mr Hogan said. “We have some excellent health facilities across Page, many skilled clinicians – and it’s a beautiful place for the students to live as they complete this component of their studies.”
“Importantly, many of the students who have done their placements in Page in the past have decided to remain in area permanently further boosting the highly trained and dedicated medical staff caring for our residents.”
Mr Hogan will address the medical students at the Lismore-based University Centre for Rural Health on the first day of their placement before they begin their training at Lismore Base Hospital, Grafton Base Hospital, Ballina Hospital, Aboriginal Medical Services and various GP practices.
The UCRH co-ordinates the placement of medical and allied health students from the University of Sydney, University of Wollongong and the University of Western Sydney.
