Federal member for Page Kevin Hogan said the Government has delivered certainty to people with disability, carers, families and their advocates in Page by extending funding for a range of programmes transitioning to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
He said the Government’s priority is to ensure continuity of services to familes and carers as the transition to the NDIS begins.
“Families, carers and children will continue receiving quality care and services as there will no interruption as programmes migrate to the NDIS,” Mr Hogan said.
He said the Government has extended funding for Ballina District Community Services and the Lismore Neighbourhood Centre.
“The funding extension to Ballina District Community Services is worth $183,000 and $129,700 for the Lismore Neighbourhood Centre, and will allow for current arrangements to continue through to June 30, 2016,” Mr Hogan said.
“This funding extension is good news for people with disability and careers in the Northern Rivers who will be able to continue to access these services as we roll-out the NDIS across the country.”
Mr Hogan said the funding extensions in Page were part of a broader Government decision to provide certainty to Australians who access these services.
“The Federal Government is committed to ensuring a better deal for people with a disability and their carers through the roll-out of the NDIS, but in the meantime we are working to ensure vital services are continuing to be delivered to those who need them,” he said.
