Farrell Appointment Reeks of Jobs for the Boys
Shadow Minister for Trade and Tourism, Kevin Hogan has called out Labor’s hypocrisy for appointing his mate to a plum US posting over a preferred candidate.
“Labor’s hypocrisy is mind blowing,” Mr Hogan said.
“Mr Farrell has appointed his mate and factional shoppies union ally with no experience in trade or investment and who didn’t even apply.
“Austrade ran a proper process and put forward a preferred candidate, a high ranking official with two decades experience in trade but Farrell dumped her to appoint his mate Chris Ketter to the San Francisco post.
“This is completely at odds with what Penny Wong said ‘The Albanese government is … rebalancing appointments towards qualified senior officials, consistent with position requirements and community expectations’ rather than this jobs for the boys.
“It was Labor who went hard on the Barilaro trade envoy appointment, this therefore is just rank hypocrisy.”
