Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan said older member of the Clarence Valley community will benefit from the construction of a new 144-bed residential aged care home and subsequent significant job creation.
Mr Hogan was today joined by the Minister for Aged Care, Ken Wyatt AM, on a site visit of Signature Care’s the new facility, after securing $9.36 million in annual funding to support running costs.
“This will be a great facility for our community and will create 170 permanent new full time and part time operational positions, plus extra employment in Aged Care support services,” he said.
“These jobs are in addition to those that will be supported during the construction phase.
“Signature Care estimates the new aged care facility will contribute almost $8 million a year to the local economy.
“We will not only have a wonderful new facility for older members of our community, it is great news for long-term local employment, with Aged Care one of the nation’s fastest growing employment sectors.”
“It is also important that older members of our community are not forced to move away from their family and friends in search of an Aged Care bed.”
In 2016-17 the Federal Government invested more than $124 million in on-going annual funding for Aged Care services in across our community, including over $97 million for residential care.
