Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan today announced a $20,000 grant towards the construction of a skate park at Tabulam.
“This project will create a much-needed facility for young people at Tabulam and the surrounding areas in a central location,” he said.
“This project has been high on the priority list for the Tabulam community for some time, and I am happy to be working with Kyogle Council to make the dream a reality.
The project will see an existing unused concrete tennis court converted into a skate park using pre-cast concrete components based on a design developed in consultation with local youth.
The works involve modifications to the existing fencing around the area to ensure that the remaining tennis court is fully enclosed and separated from the skate park.
“The skate park has the support of the local police, Aboriginal Land Council, Chamber of Commerce and many other local groups,” Mr Hogan said.
“Projects under the Stronger Communities Program, like this one, are selected by a community consultation committee that assist with identifying potential projects,” Mr Hogan said.
